Tourism and conservation working in partnership.

21 years in 21 days: Day 19 - 2012

£2 million raised and a national conference...

In 2012 the Visitor Giving Conference took over our office and minds as we prepared to share the secrets of Visitor Giving with other destinations across the UK. And it could not have been more aptly timed. At a time when destinations were facing increasingly difficult challenges regarding the maintenance and protection of the visitor attracting landscapes we all know and love, we were demonstrating that Visitor Giving was a valid fundraisning method. In fact we celebrated raising £2 million pounds via Visitor Giving that year.

The Visitor Giving Conference provided tourism professionals with an invaluable insight into Visitor Giving. Delivered by Nurture Tourism associates and partners, delegates enjoyed the following workshops and master classes;

Marketing Visitor Giving
How and Why Should Tourism Businesses Give?
The Visitor Giving Model
Utilising Social Media
Visitor Giving Technology
How to Select Beneficiaries

In addition to informative and interactive workshops, conference delegates enjoyed key note speakers such as Harold Goodwin from the International Centre for Responsible Tourism. The second day of the conference provided delegates with the opportunity to enjoy the stunning landscapes of the Lake District National Park and to see first-hand some Visitor Giving supported projects and fundraising businesses.

It was also the perfect opportunity to celebrate the great work of our dedicated members with an awards ceremony.
