Tourism and conservation working in partnership.

21 years in 21 days: Day 4 - 1997

A proud moment for us with a feature article in the Times in 1997, and a great picture of footpath repair in action

This article celebrates the footpath conservation work of Paul Kear and David Parry funded by voluntary £1 donations from visitors. In contrast to the unpopular proposal to charge £1 from all visitors to Ben Nevis announced earlier in 1997, the Tourism and Conservation Partnership showed that visitors are more than happy to give something back 'as long as they are asked nicely'.  The generosity of our visitors and the enthusiasm of local businesses made this project possible.
