The Regent Hotel help our habitats get back on track

Just days after Cumbria was hit by Storm Desmond, General Manager of the Regent Hotel at Waterhead, Andrew Hewitt, contacted us to find out how he could support the recovery and resilience of the natural environment that we all rely upon.

The Hewitt family has run the Regent Hotel for 35 years and are enthusiastic members of the Ambleside community with their involvement in Ambleside Christmas Lights and Ambleside Sports.

After taking a look at our portfolio of projects, Andrew and the team have decided to donate £2 from every booking made through their Regular Guest Club to the Flowers and Fells Fund.

This Fund supports Cumbria Wildlife Trust to protect and enhance two of Cumbria’s most special habitats: flower-rich hay meadows and species-rich peatlands. As well as being home to wildlife, peatbogs also have an important role to play in 'fixing' carbon from the atmosphere.

The natural environment needs our support now more than ever and we are delighted to be working with the passionate team at the Regent, and wish them every success in their fundraising efforts. #CumbriaIsOpen.
