We are delighted to host a new fundraiser for Fix the Fells, James Forrest
The Fix the Fells Partnership Programme is now well established and it is clear to all involved that footpath repair and maintenance will be an ongoing priority for many years to come. With this in mind, a new fundraiser role has been created to develop new income streams for Fix the Fells to ensure the sustainability of the project in the longer term.
The Partnership decided that the fundraiser would be best based at Nurture Lakeland, and we are delighted to welcome James to our team.
James set up Birmingham-based Sport 4 Life UK in 2006, a charity that aims to create a better future for young people by improving their employability and key life skills through sports-themed personal development programmes. Two years ago James moved on from Sport 4 Life to pursue his passion for the Fells and for writing. Over the past two years he has gained a journalism qualification and worked as a newspaper reporter in the regional press, won “Newcomer of the Year” award at the Midlands Media Awards, and became a freelance magazine writer focusing on walking, travel and the great outdoors.
James is a self-confessed fell walking addict – he has completed all 214 Wainwrights and is currently working through Bill Birkett’s 541 tops. James says “I truly love Lakeland and believe whole-heartedly in the protection of this timelessly beautiful place.”
While James will be pursuing new income streams for Fix the Fells such as grants and community fundraising, Nurture Lakeland will continue to focus on supporting and promoting all of the wonderful businesses taking part in Visitor Giving for the whole range of projects on our portfolio.
Those of you fundraising for Fix the Fells might be hearing from James from time to time, perhaps for your support in raising awareness for an event. We hope that you will make James welcome in this wonderful county and no doubt he will bring great successes for Fix the Fells.
