Welcome to our new Chairperson

Gill Houston, an associate lecturer at The Open University Business School with experience of both running and advising businesses, will be taking on the role of Nurture Lakeland Chairperson in September 2015.

Karen Mitchell, Director, says: ‘We’re delighted that Gill has agreed to take on this role. We have ever increasing numbers of visitors coming to Cumbria which gives us both a greater opportunity and a greater need to inspire visitors to help protect the natural environment. Gill will help us to develop our strategy to do this’.

Gill says: ‘I’m really looking forward to working with the Board and staff at Nurture Lakeland. Cumbria and the Lake District offers so many natural attractions for locals and visitors alike which I’m personally passionate about. Tourism has an undeniable impact on the environment and Nurture Lakeland is in a unique position to help the tourism sector mitigate that’.
