Improving the local food supply chain is an aspiration of The Lake District National Park Partnership, with the aim of reducing carbon emissions, sustaining the local farming community and other producers, and linking visitors to the area’s agricultural heritage.
Nurture Lakeland was contracted by the Cumbria Rural Growth Network via Cumbria Tourism to undertake a desk-based literature review, an online questionnaire and a series of in-depth interviews with producers and tourism businesses to identify and understand the limitations to local food demand and supply in the Lake District.
