International interest in Visitor Giving

A group of Dutch and Belgian tourism and conservation professionals could not wait until mid-October to pick the brains of Cumbrian sustainable tourism and Visitor Giving experts, Nurture Lakeland, arriving a whole month before a scheduled Visitor Giving conference to view projects, glean information and pick up tips.

The group are part of the Sustainable Tourism in Estuary Parks (STEP) project and concerned with estuary and wetland landscapes, they wished to meet Nurture Lakeland employees, members and environmental partners, having had the organisation recommended to them by The Broads Authority in Norfolk.

Nurture Lakeland helped the Broads Authority set up a Visitor Giving scheme earlier this year, as part of the work carried out by its Nurture Tourism consultancy arm.   The scheme in Norfolk, called ‘Enjoy Give Protect’ is now up and running, helping to support conservation of the unique wetland landscape, Bruce Hanson from The Broads Authority was eager to share the experience with his STEP Partners and so suggested a trip to the Lake District to explore Visitor Giving in Cumbria.

Bursaries for local delegates

Visitor Giving Forum – Bursaries for local delegates

So far we’ve attracted a host of delegates from near and far, with representatives from many of the UK’s National Parks and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Charities and other NGOs such as The RSPB, Environment Agency and Coast are also sending delegates to make the most of this rare opportunity.

We would really love to see local Organisations at the conference too; we know that there’s so much more we can do to improve Visitor Giving in Cumbria and the surrounding area.

With kind support from Lake District National Park Authority we would like to offer local conservation organisations, with a turnover under £20k per annum, a bursary to the value of £130 for day one of the Visitor Giving Forum.

There are still some places left so don’t miss out, take advantage of this unique chance to share Visitor Giving best practice, meet like-minded professionals and enjoy an impressive range of speakers, master classes and workshops.

Zoe’s passion for blogging and knowledge of twitter and FB to advertise and promote blogs is perfect for this event. Visitor Giving creates numerous opportunities for blogging, from the difference the generated funds make to the positive feedback it naturally creates via visitors – it has the potential to give creative fodder for numerous blog posts. Join Zoe during the ‘Utilising Social Media’ workshop and discover the added value Visitor Giving can generate for your current social media presence.
