Responsible Tourism Volunteer – Visitor Giving
Purpose
Responsible tourism is about making positive contributions to the conservation of the natural and cultural heritage, enhancing the well-being of host communities and providing more enjoyable experiences for tourists through more meaningful connections with local people, and a greater understanding of local cultural, social and environmental issues.
Our internationally renowned Visitor Giving scheme does all these things and more, and we’re looking for one or more enthusiastic individuals to help us manage and grow Visitor Giving across Cumbria. It’s a great chance to experience being be part of an award-winning, responsible tourism organisation.
Tasks
These will involve
- Working with existing Nurture Lakeland business members operating Visitor Giving.
- Producing and delivering supporting promotional materials.
- Being responsible for aspects of the financial management of donations.
- Developing closer links between businesse supporters and conservation project beneficiaries.
- Supporting events to raise awareness of Nurture Lakeland and Visitor Giving.
Commitment
A regular and on-going time commitment of around 2 days per month.
Experience/Skills
- Good communication skills.
- Enthusiasm.
- Passion for conservation.
- Basic level of IT skills.
- Driving licence and own car essential.

Based
The role is partly office-based (Staveley, South Lakes) and partly ‘out and about’ and will involve travel around the Lake District and Cumbria. Travel expenses will be paid.
