About us
If you haven't heard of Nurture Lakeland before then here's what we do in a nutshell:
We're a unique, award winning organisation inspiring people to care for Cumbria's natural environment through responsible tourism.
We help to make the Cumbrian tourism industry sustainable by creating ways for businesses and individuals to donate to conservation.
We're also busy campaigning to help ensure that the environment and human activity co-exist harmoniously. We're doing lots to help the area through campaings like 'Love Your Lakes', 'Drive Less See More' and 'Low Carbon Tourism'. Take a look at the Sustainable Tourism section of the site to see what we're up to.

Vital statistics
Nurture Lakeland is a registered charity with eight full time members of staff based at offices in the village of Staveley in the heart of the Lake District. We have over 360 business members representing more than 1200 tourism businesses and holiday cottage owners across Cumbria, all committed to protecting this area for now and for the future.
We're closely involved in developing policy and strategic planning to enable us to protect and conserve the very special landscapes, culture and heritage of the Lake District National Park and Cumbria. We're supported by 12 trustees, all prominent members of the local community, drawn from Cumbrian business, the Tourism Sector and conservation organisations including the Lake District National Park and National Trust.
