Preparation of a Feasibility Study and Delivery Plan for Cycle Tourism in Penrith and the Eden Valley
Nurture Lakeland wish to appoint experienced consultants to prepare a Feasibility Study for the further development of: Penrith as a ‘Cycle Hub’ and cycle tourism in the Eden Valley. The company will need to have proven practical experience in working with organisations and key stakeholders to develop cycling infrastructure and cycle tourism.

‘Visitor Giving’ is the simple process of inviting tourists to make a small a small donation via the bill or service charge as a contribution towards the upkeep and enhancement of the area they are visiting.
The White Paper; The Natural Choice features Nurture Lakeland (section 4.38) as a case study and highlights how voluntary payback schemes not only raise significant amounts of money, but also states that,
‘Payback schemes have significant local potential and could be expanded across the country.’
Nurture Tourism aims to share good practice gained over the last 20 years through a range of responsible tourism and Visitor Giving consultancy services.
VG is a very specialist field of fundraising and operates within a specific niche. It requires a unique combination of skills and knowledge, drawing expertise both from the third sector and the private sector, as well as from the tourism sector and the conservation sector. VG’s success is in bringing together a whole range of diverse partners to bring about precise projects and actions.
Nurture Lakeland has been successfully operating this innovative scheme in the Lake District National Park for almost 20 years and has raised over £2m. Money raised through Visitor Giving supports local conservation, community and environment projects and is distributed through a grants scheme.
